I Made Pretzels
Tuesday, January 1, 2013
As I delve into baking adventures I thought I'd give pretzels a try - they're relatively simple to make and don't take a lot of ingredients. In fact, one of the reasons I chose pretzels are because the recipe I used called for ingredients that I already had at home, and since it was New Year's Eve, I didn't have work the next day, and I had some Mad Med episode to catch up on from my new DVDs, there way no way I was leaving the house to get groceries.
Some of them came out really fat - my own mistake from making the tubes of dough too think - but others were yummy thin pretzels and they tasted pretty great.
For the too fat pretzels I ended up just using them as buns and I made this (fake) ham and cheese sandwich with one of the fattest ones. YUMMM. The (fake) ham along with the bit of salt on top of the pretzel was divine, and I'm happy I have a tons of extras to use for sandwiches for the rest of the week.
Hope everyone had a great New Years and here's to 2013! Now I must go and enjoy some quality time with the couch, my pretzels, and Mystery Diners on the Food Network. No shame!
